New County Hotel Perth Fire - 2nd January 2023

In the early morning of January 2nd, a fire broke out in the New County Hotel, Perth, in which three people and a dog sadly lost their lives.

Nine fire appliances were turned out to the scene, along with numerous Scottish Ambulance Service SORT vehicles and police.

A large cordon of closed off streets was in place most of that day, and a police presence remained for a few weeks after the incident as the investigation continued.

River Tay Search - 1st January 2023

A well-intentioned false alarm led to a large scale emergency response at the River Tay in Perth with police, fire, ambulance, coastguard and mountain rescue teams in attendance.

Water rescue teams searched the River while coastguard and ambulance sort teams searched on Moncrieffe Island before the search was stood down with no one in the river.

FIre crews from across Tayside and Fife spent close to 36 hours at the scene of a huge fire at the Shore Recycling plant, lower Friarton, Perth.

The fire broke out overnight, and the billowing smoke could be smelt as far away as Crieff.

Appliances from Perth, Kinross, Newburgh, Dunfermline and Dundee among others were in attendance.

No one was hurt in the blaze.

Perth Flooding - September 2022

Torrential rain on the morning of September 8th 2022 lead to widespread flooding across Perth. Feus Road and the Fairfield housing scheme were flooded, along with Broxden and Lamberkine Avenue roundabouts.

The images here show the scene at Necessity Brae, Cherrybank Inn and down into Craigie where the Craigie Burn failed to cope with the volume of water thundering down it.
